Representation Reflection:

The idea of representation in comparison to Stuart Hall's theory and how it relates to media studies is derived as a term that expresses how people, places, and things are. Stuart Hall's theory states that "representations aren't reflections of things that already have meaning, they are the meaning makers of things that happen in reality." In other words, someone of higher standing may have the ability to influence or educate people about certain topics happening in the world, as a way of calling them to take a stand. Moreso, Media is able to better show the importance of topics being represented. Representations can bring awareness about people of different genders or sex, or bring awareness to people of different backgrounds. They might appear in media more often, for example, you might see different people of color in a movie or a tv show, or brought out in a picture book.
